David Bennett, age 78, of Huron, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Visitation for Dave was held Wednesday, July 1st from 10 am to 12 pm at the Kuhler Funeral Home.

His private family funeral service was at 1 pm Wednesday, July 1st, at the Kuhler Funeral Home and live streamed on the Kuhler Funeral Home Facebook page .

David William Bennett was born July 24, 1941, to Charles and Leona (Bucholtz) Bennett in Wessington Springs. His family lived in various communities. During his high school years, Dave worked for his father at his blacksmith shop in Alpena.

He entered the United States Army shortly after school. His platoon was sent to Vietnam the day after he was honorably discharged. After returning from the service, Dave went to work at John Deere. He then worked at various other shops in the area, before starting work at Carlson's, where he retired from in 2014.

On May 29, 1964, Dave married Donna Fletcher in Ash Grove, Missouri.

Dave enjoyed listening to old country music, spending time with his grandchildren, watching funny videos on YouTube, watching car races and working on old cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bonnie (Gene) Reeser and Charlotte Freese; and one grandson, Damond Bennett.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Donna of Huron; three children, Darwin (Torrie) Bennett of Huron, Deanna (Lance) Loecker of Yankton and Dwayne (Mirsa) Bennett of Huron; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three siblings, Don (Ruth) Bennett of Huron; Gordon (Velma) Bennett of Austin, Texas and Eileen (Ken) Hill of Hickory, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
