Daryl Lynn Tschetter was born on May 25, 1959, to Calvin and Jeanette (Hofer) Tschetter in Huron, South Dakota. He was raised on a farm south of Doland, South Dakota. Daryl received his education through the 12th grade at Doland Public School. He worked on the family farm during his high school years and for periods of time during his 20s.

Daryl attended the Emmanuel Mennonite Church of rural Doland and professed his faith in Christ as his Savior at a young age. The gospel message presented at a Bill Glass Crusade in Huron, was especially meaningful to him.

Daryl attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota, for two years. During one summer break he lived in Wisconsin, working for the Milwaukee Road Railroad and then was employed as a section foreman for Union Pacific Railroad in Wyoming for one year.  After his railroad experience, Daryl returned to SDSU and finished his education earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. Early in his engineering career, he received his professional engineer certification. Daryl was a detail person and took pride in producing quality work for the companies where he was employed. He developed a computer program which streamlined the development of engineering designs for roads and bridges. Daryl's employment opportunities took him to Mansfield and Columbus, Ohio and Ft. Meyers, Florida. His most recent engineering employment was in Phoenix, Arizona, for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Due to health issues, he left that position and moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in 2022.

Daryl enjoyed working on vehicles. Time spent at drag racing strips with his brother, Steve, was one of the things he enjoyed in his 20s. During his employment in Ohio, he did some hobby farming. In later years, he became an avid fisherman, snagging delicious walleye which he shared with the family.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his mother, Jeanette of Sioux Falls; one sister, Cindy (Steve) Ver Burg of Hartford, South Dakota; three nieces; two nephews; four great-nieces and one great-nephew. Left also to cherish his memory are his aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin; one sister and brother-in-law, Vicky and Howard Stockman; and one brother, Steve.
