Darrell Wipf, age 61 of Cavour, passed away Friday, June 4, 2021, at Ava's House Hospice in Sioux Falls.
His funeral service was held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the Kuhler Funeral Home. The funeral service was live-streamed on the Kuhler Funeral Home website. Burial was in the Bethel Mennonite Brethren Church Cemetery.
Darrell Edward Wipf was born April 20, 1960, to Edward Albert and Arlene (Tschetter) Wipf at Huron, South Dakota. He attended school in Yale, Cavour and Iroquois. During his high school years, he worked for Sam Wollman on the farm. From 1978 to 1983, he worked at Armour's in Huron.
In 1984, Darrell started his 30-year truck driving career working for Midwest Coast, NTA and A&A Trucking. He transported refrigerated cargo all over the United States, and especially liked traveling the east coast states. He received many awards for professional truck driving ethics, technique and safety.
Darrell enjoyed fishing, watching boxing, WWE Wrestling, Minnesota Twins baseball and NASCAR racing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward A. Wipf in 2009; his brother, Dale Wipf in 1981; and his grandparents, Albert and Elizabeth Wipf and Paul JP and Ann Tschetter.
Darrell is survived by his mother, Arlene Wipf of Yale; his sister, Imogene Lesley of Amarillo, Texas; and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
His family would like to recognize and thank the doctors, nurses, speech and respiratory specialists and cancer palliative team at Sanford Hospital ICU and pulmonary unit, Select Specialty Hospital and Ava's House Hospice for the exceptional care of Darrell the past five weeks.
