Darlena Joy (Bergerson) Fischer was born January 11, 1977, to Mae (Kant) Tschetter and Dennis Bergerson, at Huron, South Dakota. Darlena Joy was named after her grandmothers, Verna Darlene (Boyd) Kant and Doris Joy Bergerson. She grew up riding bikes, bowling, playing Yahtzee and Scrabble, camping and roller skating.

Darlena graduated from Huron High School in 1995, and Huron University in 1998 with a nursing degree. She enjoyed traveling/visiting many states as an OB nurse helping moms bring their babies into the world.

Darlena married Patrick Fischer on December 23, 1995.

Darlena could fix/repair almost anything she put her mind to. Darlena loved going to concerts and State Fairs and growing her own garden. Her great achievement was becoming a mom to Caitlyn, James and Nathaniel.

Amongst all her travels, when she would come home to Huron, Darlena would have to stop at The Donut Shoppe for her favorite donuts, at Dairy Queen for a turtle sundae, and at Casey's for breakfast pizza.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Patrick Fischer of Norwalk, Iowa; their children, Caitlyn (Cory) Fischer of Boone, Iowa, and James Fischer and Nathaniel Fischer, both of Norwalk, Iowa; two sisters, Wendy (Todd) Ravenscroft of Huron and Nikki Sundstrom of Gillette, Wyoming; two nephews, Ryan Ravenscroft (Ashylnne Terkildsen) of Elkton, South Dakota and Sheldon Sundstrom of Gillette, Wyoming; two nieces, Stephanie Sundstrom (Chandler Rideout) and Tiffanie Sundstrom (James Boswell), all of Gillette, Wyoming; and bonus dad, Donald "Jake" Tschetter of Huron.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mae Tschetter and Dennis Bergerson; maternal grandparents, Gene and Verna Kant; paternal grandparents, Alvin and Doris Bergerson; and one niece, Amanda Ravenscroft.

A celebration of Darlena's life will be held at a later date.
