Clyde "Abe" Ritchhart, age 94, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Huron, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

His funeral service was held at 2 PM, Wednesday, December 9, at the Kuhler Funeral Home in Huron, with military honors by the Huron Veterans Council. His service was live-streamed through the Kuhler Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial was in the Ideal Cemetery.

Clyde Ritchhart was born February 12, 1926, Clyde and Berniece (Meggs) Ritchhart at Wessington Springs. He graduated from Wessington Springs High School in 1944.

Abe then joined the United States Navy on May 24, 1944, and served 3 years during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a Yeoman 2nd Class aboard the USS Banner. He was just honored with a 75-year membership certificate with the Huron American Legion Post 7.

Abe married Esther Kost Marvin on September 1, 1971.

Abe worked as a dispatcher at Northwestern Public Service for 35 years. He was a member of the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Abe enjoyed golfing and woodworking in his spare time.

Abe and Esther moved to Sioux Falls in 2010.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Terry Ritchhart on October 9, 2020.

Survivors include his wife, Esther; one son, Kim (Roberta) Richhart; six grandchildren, Michael Ritchhart, Trevor Ritchhart, Brandon Ritchhart, Jacob Marvin, Tricia Amistle and Tammy Merchen; numerous great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; daughter-in-law, Cheri Ritchhart; and three step-children, Cindy Wilmarth, Cathy Marvin and Paul Marvin.
