Cheryl Marie Lentz, age 68, of Huron, passed away on January 16, 2025, at her son's home in Huron, SD.

Her funeral service was held at 12:00 PM Friday, January 24, at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with burial in the Riverside Cemetery. Her service was live-streamed.

Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Cheryl Marie Lentz, the daughter of Howard and Francella (Schinderling) Lentz, was born on October 29, 1956, in Huron. She attended school at Custer Township School in Beadle County and then Huron Public Schools. She graduated from Huron High School in 1974.

Cheryl worked for a time at the Chef Café and Swift Meatpacking Plant. Cheryl enjoyed meeting and talking to her customers when she worked at Kasperson's Gas Station. She also loved taking care of her residents when she worked at the Violet Tschetter Nursing Home.

Cheryl was a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, where she was baptized and confirmed. Her hobbies included watching movies, listening to music and fishing.  Cheryl's most enjoyable times were the times she spent with her family and her pets.  Cheryl was a single mom and though it was hard for her at times, she did not regret a single minute spent raising her son, Jeffrey.

Grateful for having shared in Cheryl's life are her son, Jeffrey Lentz of Huron; her siblings, Terry Lentz of Parkston, Kevin Lentz, Lorry (Danny Meyers) Risetter and Chuck (Penny) Lentz, all of Huron and LaRae Moreno of Texas; her aunt, Marie Iverson of Mitchell; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Francella and Howard; two brothers-in-law, Robert Moreno and Clark Risetter; several aunts and uncles; and special friend, Gary Madsen.
