Charles "Chuck" Schlechter, age 64, of Huron, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at Avera McKennan Hospital at Sioux Falls.

His private family funeral service was live-streamed on the Kuhler Funeral Home Facebook page at 10:00 AM, Friday, November 20 .  Interment was in Mount Calvary Cemetery at Polo.

Chuck was born April 13, 1956, to Corliss and Elizabeth "Betty" (Wernsmann) Schlechter, at Faulkton.  Chuck grew up on the family farm at Polo. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankee's baseball team.  He later moved to Huron and lived at the Bradfield-Leary Center.  While in Huron, he became a member of the Jehovah's Witness.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, Corliss Schlechter; and grandparents, Herman and Frances Schlechter and Phillip and Mary Wernsmann.

He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Schlechter; his brothers, Daniel "Dan" (Lisa) Schlechter, Timothy "Tim" (Betty) Schlechter, Dean (Stephanie) Schlechter, Corey Schlechter and Kevin (Sandy) Schlechter; his sister, Lorie (Wendell) Schlechter; and nieces and nephews, Aby, Evan, Alex and Jace Schlechter, Taylor and Callie Schlechter, Tyler and Trevor Schlechter, Rodney, Muranda, Karstyn and Emeri Schlechter, Ryan, Miranda, Raynor, Waylan, Haydan Schlechter, Rachel and Nathan Rohrbach, Robin Schlechter, Nicole Dinger, Casey Dinger, Brooks, Abel and Stetson Schumacher, Amanda Dinger and Brianna Dinger.
