Carol LaVonne Stahl was born on November 7, 1936, to Jake and Justina (Gross) in Huron. She was raised on the family farm near Yale and graduated from Yale High School.
On May 17, 1954, Carol married her high school sweetheart, DeWayne Walter. They lived in Lawton, Oklahoma until DeWayne was honorably discharged from the United States Army. They returned to the family farm in Beadle County where they spent many decades farming and raising their five children.
Carol enjoyed planting and seeing crops grow whether it was in her garden or the family fields. DeWayne was very blessed to have a wife that wasn't afraid to drive the combine and harvest, milk the cows or do whatever chore needed to be done. She loved seeing the birth of animals and watching them grow up.
Carol accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized and became a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church. Lots of joy was brought to her life through serving her church in various roles. Carol had a deep love for God, family and friends. She was always ready to help her family and friends and listen to their joys and concerns.
She was a seamstress and sewed for Kota Kids and was always willing to participate in various projects for missionary needs.
