Carol Walter, age 63, of Huron, passed away peacefully August 24, 2018, at her home due to natural causes. Her Celebration of Life was held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 29th at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Burial was in the Ideal Cemetery.
Carol Jean Johnson was born July 5, 1955, to Robert C and Marion (Patzwald) Johnson in Lake Preston, South Dakota. She grew up in De Smet, where she graduated from high school. She was baptized in the Assembly of God Church on March 21, 1982. Carol then attended nursing school in Pierre, becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed for over 30 years as an LPN at the Huron Nursing Home, retiring in 2010.
Carol married Rex Walter on April 18, 1975, they had two sons; Nathan R. Walter and Jesse J. Walter.
Carol loved her kids and lived to support them in all their activities, sports and music. She also provided lifelong support of their life goals and pursuits. She especially loved spending time with her granddaughter, Addisonand looked forward to welcoming her second grandchild this fall. Family was very important to her. Carol had very strong faith in Jesus as her Savior. She also loved watching Christian television and the Minnesota Twins.
She was preceded in death by her son, Nathan Robert Walter who passed away November 16, 2011, from Leukemia; her parents; her brother, Mike Johnson; and father-in-law; Byron Walter.
Carol is survived by her husband, Rex Walter of Huron; son, Jesse Walter and his wife, Kristi of Woodbury, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Nikki Walter of Aberdeen; granddaughter, Addison Walter; two sisters, Margaret "Toots" Johnson of Rapid City and Mary "Lynny" Hein and her husband, Tom of De Smet; brother, Jim Johnson of Rapid City; mother-in-law, Arlene Walter of Huron; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carmen Holland of Ojai, California, Dallas Walter of Yale, and Dawn Almond and her husband, Larry of Custer; and many nieces and nephews.
