Bonnie Hunter, age 73, of Huron, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Avantara - Huron.

Her family will have a private service to honor her life.

Bonnie “Sis” Moeding was born June 26, 1952, to Fred “Bud” and Alice “Girlie” (Wheeler) Moeding, in Huron, South Dakota. She grew up in Morningside, attending and graduating from Huron High School.

After graduation, Bonnie met Jack Hartman, and they had two daughters, Valere and Billie. Later, she met and married Dean Halbur, and they had one daughter, Jenifer. Her bonus Halbur children were Mike and Loretta.

Bonnie married Bob Hunter and they moved to California. After 6 years, she decided to return home to be closer to family.

Bonnie became a caretaker for her mother and began working at Walmart. She worked at the Huron location for over a decade, retiring in 2019.

She loved her pets, especially her dog Jack, whom she has gone ahead to find.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Johnny and Danny.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her children, Valere (Hartman) Walton, Billie Jo (Hartman) and Jamie Hines, Jenifer (Halbur) Mees, Mike Halbur, and Loretta Halbur; her grandchildren, Stephen Kroll III, Brayden (Morgan) Kroll, Jozlyn Mees, Braxton (Kaylee) Hines, Dylan (Vanessa) Hines, Evan Walton, Serena Walton, and Jack Walton; her great-grandchildren, Brantley, Bodyn, Ryder, Oakley and Turner Hines, and Ezra, Eisla and Esmy Walton; her brothers, Jimmy (Vickie) Moeding and Monty Moeding; as well as several nieces and nephews.
