Obituary

Bernard "Bud" Phillippi, age 83, of Huron, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Yankton. His funeral mass was celebrated at 10 AM, Monday, April 20th, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with Rev. Terry Anderson, celebrant. Burial was in the St. Martin Catholic Cemetery. Military honors were given by the Huron Veterans Council.
Bernard "Bud" Francis Phillippi was born July 5, 1931, to William and Marie (Romakie) Phillippi at Huron. On March 15, 1952, Bud joined the United States Marine Corps. He served during the Korean War. On March 28, 1953, Bud was honored by the Trusty Golden Dragons. He was honorably discharged March 25, 1954.
On August 2, 1955, Bud married Norma M. Anderson at St. Martin Catholic Church. They made their home in Huron. Bud worked as a warehouseman for Park Grant in Huron for 30 years.
He was a member of the Marine Corps League, the VFW, and the American Legion. Bud enjoyed playing Bingo. He liked to make and repair bicycles. Bud also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sons, Michael and Paul; four sisters, Marie Smith, Dorothy Baum, Esther Carlson, and Gerdie Munion; and two brothers, William Phillippi and Stan Phillippi, Sr.
Grateful for having shared in his life are two sons, John Phillippi and Mark Phillippi both of Huron; three granddaughters, Sarah Phillippi, Roseanne Phillippi and Esther Witte; one sister, Patricia (Leon) Miller of Spearfish; one sister-in-law, Purcey Lokken of Yankton; and one brother-in-law, Vernal (Kay) Anderson of Sioux Falls; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
