Bernadine D. Stahl, age 86, of Huron, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her memorial visitation was held from 1:00 to 5:30 PM, Tuesday, July 17th, at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with her family present from 3:30 to 5:30 PM. Private family burial was in the the Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Riverview United Methodist Church or the Center for Independence Foundation.
Bernadine D. Stahl was born March 17, 1932, to Edward and Elizabeth (Hofer) Waldner. She graduated from Doland High School and went on to attend Northern State College in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Following college, Bernadine began working at the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Huron.
On June 23, 1953, Bernadine married Helmuth Stahl at Huron. In 1954, Helmuth purchased the Coast to Coast Store in Huron, of which he owned for 35 years. For many of those years, Bernadine worked at the store alongside her husband and their dog, Spottie.
Bernadine loved to garden and discuss politics. A staunch Republican, Bernadine liked nothing better than to debate what was happening in Washington and Pierre.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Helmuth; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tillie and Clarence Darland, Katie and Eric Dietrich and Ruben and Marie Stahl.
Grateful to have shared in her life are her brother, Leo Waldner of Huron and many nieces and nephews.
