Obituary

Barbara Ann Morris, age 73, of Wolsey and formerly of Rapid City, died Thursday, March 12, 2015, at her daughter's home. Her memorial service was held at 7:30 PM, Saturday, March 14th, at the Kuhler Funeral Home with Rev. Ryan Maxted, officiating.
Barbara Ann Martin was born March 16, 1941, to Charles W. and Barbara Maxine (Alexander) Martin at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The family later moved to Golden, Colorado. She graduated from Golden High School in 1959.
On September 17, 1977, Barbara married the love of her life, Billy Eugene Morris in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The couple moved to Greeley, Colorado, where the couple owned a bee keeping company for 25 years. In 2001, they retired and moved to Rapid City, South Dakota, to be closer to her grandchildren. The couple then moved to Florida in 2013. After Billy's death in 2014, Barbara moved to Wolsey to live with her daughter, Pam.
She studied sculpting under Charles Lundeen and worked as an artist most of her life. Barbara enjoyed quilting, painting, and crafts. She was a true artist of quilts. She designed quilt patterns and was featured in several quilting publications, as well as had one of her paintings of a quilt featured on a Prairie Berry wine label. Barbara would create quilts depicting her travels. She especially enjoyed traveling to Tahiti and Europe. She was a member of the Colorado Water Color Association, the Colorado Sculptors Guild, and the Black Hills Quilter Guild. Barbara was also an illustrator for children's color books.
She also liked watching the Denver Broncos with her sons-in-law and a cold beer. She cherished her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Other interests were home remodeling and decorating.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Morris in February 2014.
Grateful for having shared her life are her two daughters, Pam and her husband, John Bruckner of Wolsey and Karen Wyman and her husband, Duane Alvarado of Merritt Island, Florida; six grandchildren, Angela (Michael) Pickett of Vermillion, Sarah (Nathan) Miller of Aberdeen, Alissa (Jason) Orban of Sioux Falls, Dustin (Melissa) Bruckner of Watertown, Jessica Pentacoff of Merritt Island, Florida, and Heather Pentacoff of California; eight great-grandchildren, Noah Miller, Anthony Miller, Keegan Miller, Payton Miller, Caleb Bruckner, Savannah Bruckner, Katelyn Orban, and Lovelynn Pentacoff; and two brothers, Carter (Suzanne) Martin of Sparks, Nevada and Jack (Laura) Martin of Littleton, Colorado.
