Arlys Bader, age 74, of Huron, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021, at her home with her family by her side.
Her funeral service was held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 1st at the Riverview United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Her service was live-streamed through the Riverview United Methodist Church and Virgil United Methodist Church website.
Arlys was born March 11, 1947, to George C. and Magdalene (Yantzi) Bednar.
On September 2, 1967, Arlys married her soulmate, Darrell Bader, at Huron. They made their home in rural Virgil on a dairy farm. In 1991, they moved to Huron.
Arlys met Laura Ingalls Wilder as a young woman. This encourage-inspired Arlys to take pen to paper as an adult and become an accomplished poet and author, earning awards for her poems and publishing a book.
Arlys graduated with an associate's degree from Northwest College of Commerce. Then later in life, she graduated with a literary degree.
Aryls enjoyed writing poetry. She had a way with words and you can tell by reading her poetry. She even went on to write a book and have it published. Arlys was also very gifted with a paintbrush. She loved to sit down with her canvas and paintbrushes.
She was a woman with strong beliefs and a solid stance on her foundation and core values. She had an abounding faith and loved Jesus.
Right from the start, Aryls was a life-time caregiver. Always caring for everyone around her. Arlys' pride and joy were her grandchildren and her precious great-grandchild, Finn. There was no greater gift to her than her family. She was looking forward to dancing with her beloved Darrell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on February 23, 2013; and her siblings, Muriel Goetsch, Donna Ward, Dwaine Bednar and Ervin Bednar.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her beautiful children whom she cherished, Brad and Loretta Bader, Marsha and Todd Thomas and Steven Bader, all of Huron; two grandchildren, Mason Thomas and Katie Morehouse of Sioux Falls and Abby Thomas of Huron; one great-grandson, Finn; two sisters-in-law, Ann (Maynard) Teppo of Fruitdale and Deanna Bader of Sioux Falls; one brother-in-law, Darrell Ward of Belle Fouche; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; one very special niece, Patty Eden of Farmington, Minnesota; and one special woman whom she called sister, Ann Teppo.
