Ardyce Jensen, age 91, of Huron, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Avantara – Huron.

A private graveside service was held in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Her funeral service was held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 16, at Riverview United Methodist Church. Her service was live-streamed.

Visitation with family present was held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday, September 15, at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM.

Ardyce Elaine Hoffman was born October 6, 1933, to Kenneth and Gladys (Beall) Hoffman, at Marshalltown, Iowa. Ardyce attended school in Fremont and Minden Nebraska, graduating from Minden High School in 1951. Ardyce then attended Taylor University in Indiana for two years until she met and married Edmand Jensen.

Ardyce married Edmand Jensen on October 20, 1953 in Miller, SD.  The couple lived in Iowa for a short time before moving to South Dakota where they began farming southeast of Cavour. Ardyce was a very hard worker. She did not mind helping her husband on the family farm, milking cows, driving tractor, and performing any other chore that might be necessary around the farm. Edmand passed away in 1981, following a battle with cancer, leaving Ardyce to manage the farm. This did not deter Ardyce in the least, rather she embraced the struggles of managing the farm and still completed her undergraduate degree at Huron College in Ag Business.

Once her degree was completed, she worked for various insurance agencies in and around the Huron area. Ardyce moved to Huron in the fall of 1988.

Ardyce was a member of the Riverview United Methodist Church and was very active, as she taught adult Sunday School, coordinated the church kitchen events, sang in the choir and served on numerous church leadership committees, including the parsonage and fellowship hall building committees. She was also a member of the UMC Women and the Beadle County Republican Women. Ardyce volunteered with SHINE and helped seniors enroll in Medicare D for many years. She was a nominee in 2017 for the "She Award" for her dedication to helping seniors and volunteerism.

Ardyce enjoyed square dancing, baking and sewing. It was very important to her to make sure that her daughters knew how to do so as well. Ardyce was an avid sewer and sewed many of the clothes for her growing family including all of her daughters' prom dresses. Ardyce's family was very important to her. She was involved in 4-H with all her children and always tried to attend all of their events and activities. This love of family continued into her interactions with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well.  Grandma was always striving to attend as many of their activities as was possible.

Grateful for having shared in Ardyce's life are her five children, Debra (Bill) Ehlers of Huron, SD; Beth (Dave) Kolb of Aberdeen, SD; Dawn (Ed) Vallee of Lawton, OK; Paul (Michelle) Jensen of Rome, NY; and Karen (Jerry) Barthel of Brookings, SD; her grandchildren Lori (Shane) Ehlers, Michael (Courtney) Ehlers, Steve (Allison) Vallee, Jessica (Wayne) Jones, Brooke Kolb, Brandon (Eve) Kolb, ShelliAnn (Jared) Jensen, Zachary (Brianna) Barthel, Alex Barthel, and Braeden Barthel; her great-grandchildren Evan, Ryan, Will and Eden Ehlers, Kinsleigh and Amelia Vallee, and Lincoln and Theodore Jones; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Jensen and Marit Mosbarger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ardyce was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, Algy and Tena Jensen; her husband, Edmand; her grandson, Michael Jensen; her brother, Rodney and sister-in-law, Betty Hoffman; her sister, Sharon Alonso; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.
