Obituary

Alvin R. Arbeiter, age 83, of Huron, passed away Friday, February 8, 2019, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home, surrounded by his loving wife of 60 years and their family.
His funeral service was held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, February 13th at the First United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Alvin Ray Arbeiter was born September 19, 1935, to Jacob and Olga (Goossen) Arbeiter, at Huron. He was the oldest and only boy with four sisters. He was raised on a farm northeast of Huron and farmed just down the road from where he grew up.
On November 16, 1958, Alvin married Sharon Kay Harvey, and to this union six children were born, four sons and two daughters. Alvin and Sharon farmed for close to 40 years, then moved to Huron. Alvin then worked as a dispatcher for the railroad crew for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Sharon; six children, Alan and Wanda Arbeiter of Wessington, Ron and Kim Arbeiter of Huron, Barb and Scott DeSchepper of Huron, Eva and Jim Pickinpaugh of Mitchell, Irvin and Jean Arbeiter of Loomis and Terry and Jennifer Arbeiter of San Antonio, Texas; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren with two more on the way; and four sisters, Susan and Jim Montgomery of Roswell, New Mexico, Carol and Al Lawson of Eagan, Minnesota, Verna and Jay Erickson of Albany, Oregon and Grace and Victor Vera of Veradale, Washington.
