Wanda L. Sevesind

Wanda L. Sevesind, age 78, of Huron, died Friday, October 8, 2010, at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.  Her funeral service was at 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 13th at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald Crippen officiating.  Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Huron. 

Wanda Lou Sevesind was born May 31, 1932, in DeSmet, South Dakota, to Vern and Regina ( Buzeyn) Johnson.  She attended school in DeSmet and Huron and was married to Leo Sevesind February 3, 1951, in Ivanhoe, Minnesota. 

In addition to being a homemaker and partner of Leo’s Bike Shop, Wanda was employed in food service at Huron College and Wilson School for several years and also worked as a greeter at K-Mart.    She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading, dancing and baking.  Wanda also enjoyed looking for bargains at rummage sales.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Leo of Huron; three children, Dan (Cathy) Sevesind of Miller, Dee Weber of Huron and Jean Pike of Watertown; one granddaughter, Sarah Pike of Watertown; two brothers, Robert (Mary Ellen) Johnson of DeSmet and Raymond (Madeline) Johnson of Huron; two sisters, Audrey Bitner of Sioux City, Iowa and Shirley (Arlie) Burnett of Huron; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant twins, and a son-in-law, Chester Pike.
