Violet Jean Lehmen

Violet Jean Lehmen, age 76, of Huron, died Friday, September 23, 2011, at the SunQuest Healthcare Center.  Her funeral service was at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 27th at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Marc Anderson officiating.  Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. 

Violet Jean Whittemore was born October 5, 1934, to Clifford and Doris (Bailly) Whittemore at Watertown, where she started school.  In 1942, the family moved to Stillwater, Minnesota where she attended grade school.  In 1948, the family moved to Willow Lake where she continued her education.

On October 21, 1951, Jean married Ervan Lehmen at the First Baptist Church in Huron.

Jean enjoyed music, playing the piano and singing.  She was very artistic and enjoyed doing crafts and gardening.  She was an avid doll collector.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Leon; two brothers, James and infant Joseph; one grandson, Larry; one niece, Joan; and one nephew, Steven.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Ervan of Huron; six children, Janelle Lehmen of Huron, Marilyn (David) Estby of Two Harbors, Minnesota, Connie (Daniel) Bublitz of Huron, Laurie (Jeff) Dilley of Huron, Sheila Brotherton of Huron, and Patty (Bruce) Mork of Lyons; nineteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; one sister, Betty (Bud) Kuhns of Huron; one brother, Clifford (Bonnie) Whittemore of Batesville, Arkansas; one nephew, Brian Whittemore; and one niece, Julie Fletcher.
