Vincent H. Peterson

Vincent Peterson, age 86, of Huron, died September 20, 2006.  His memorial service was held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 22nd, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kevin Channell officiating.  Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery.  Military rites were given by the Huron Veterans Council.

Vincent H. Peterson was born April 19, 1920, at Marshall, Minnesota to Nels and Leona (Zellmer) Peterson. The family moved to Huron when he was quite young. Vince attended Huron schools and graduated from Huron High School in 1938.

He married Mary Jane Seeley on October 20, 1941, at the Presbyterian Church in Huron. A son, Thomas, was born. Mary Jane had lateral sclerosis, and died in 1951. Vince was a radioman in the United States Naval Reserve.

He married Adele McGill on November 7, 1953, at Huron. After a long illness, she died on April 28, 1999.

Vince worked for Armour Foods for forty-three years. He was a purchasing agent in Huron, then was transferred to the beef department. He was later transferred to North Platte, and West Point, Nebraska, and then to Emporia, Kansas, as manager of the beef department. When the plant closed in Emporia, he was transferred back to Huron.

Vince was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wives, Mary Jane, and Adele.

Vince is survived by his son, Thomas (DeAnne) Peterson, of Prairie Village, Kansas; three stepchildren, Michael McGill, Patrick McGill, and Gregory McGill, all of Huron; four grandchildren, Kelly (Steve) Mallein, of Carmel, Indiana, Eric (Maggie) Peterson, of Prairie Village, Kansas, Joshua Peterson, of Kansas City, Missouri, Shanna Marie McGill, of Las Vegas, Nevada; one great-grandchild, Jake Mallein; and one brother, Howard Peterson, of Atlanta, Georgia.
