Tom Landstrom obituary photoTom Landstrom, age 86, of Huron, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.  His funeral service was at 11 AM Saturday, October 27 at the Congregational UCC with Marion Cain officiating.  Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery with military honors by the Huron Veterans Council.  Memorials may be directed to the Congregational UCC or a charity of choice. 

Tom Landstrom was born April 18,1926 to Harlow and Loretta (Erickson) Landstrom in Chicago.  He grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Washburn High School.  In 1944, he served in the US Army Air Corps where he was in pilot training.  After his discharge, Tom worked for the O.I. Borton Volvo dealership in Minneapolis.  He also played semi-pro baseball for a number of years.  He met Patricia

Potter on Thomas Beach at Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis.  They married in 1953.

In 1955, he and Pat joined her parents, Keith and Helen Potter, in the family business, Potter’s Shoes.  He was good at sketching and painting and possessed a gifted sense of humor.  His creative talents led to the establishment of Landstrom’s Photo Loft in 1978. 

Tom was a long-time member of the Jaycees, the Huron Chamber of Commerce, the Congregational UCC Church, Sertoma and the Huron Country Club.  He was a 54-year member of the William Reaves American Legion Post #7 in Huron. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and two younger brothers, Don and Paul.

Survivors include his wife Pat, of Huron; his daughter, Susan (Bush) Fullerton of Huron; three sons, Bob (Jane) Landstrom, of Huron, Jim (Karen) Landstrom, of Holmen, Wisconsin, and Todd (fiance Carrie McCoy) Landstrom, of Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Jeff, Tanner, Sam, Elaina and Anna Landstrom; and six nephews, all Landstroms; and sister-in-law, Sally Landstrom.
