Stanley “Bill” Williams

Stanley “Bill” Williams, age 95, of Huron, died Monday, December 26, 2011, at the SunQuest Health Care Center.  His funeral service was at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 29th, at the Kuhler Funeral Home with Pastor Fawn Lamb officiating.  Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. 

Stanley W. “Bill” Williams was born August 5, 1916, to Alva and Matilda (Denny) Williams at Walhalla, North Dakota.  He grew up and attended school at Walhalla.

On June 30, 1947, Bill married Adeline Thompson at Dresden, North Dakota.  Together they farmed at Vang, North Dakota until they moved to Clark in 1956.  In 1964 they bought a farm by Raymond.  Bill and Adeline were dorm parents at the State School at Redfield from 1965 to 1981.  They retired and moved to Huron.

Bill was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed gardening through the years and often shared that joy with his grandchildren.  The highlights of his life were all of his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Adeline; his daughter, Barbara Walter; six sisters, Marcella Blasdell, Bernice Lee, Martha, Florence, Beatrice, and Christina Phillips; three brothers, Lawrence, Hall and Amos Williams; and one great-grandchild, Jonathon.

Grateful for having shared his life are two grandchildren, David Hofer of Carpenter and Teresa and Mike Bemis of Minneapolis, Minnesota; five great-grandchildren, Derick (Cherri) Hofer of Carpenter, Ashley (Nate) Jessen of Redfield, Jamie Walter of Auburn, Washington, Hunter Bemis and Shelby Bemis both of Minneapolis; three great-great grandchildren, Kaylynn Hofer, Kelsey Hofer, Logan Jessen; one son-in-law, Ronnie Walter of Auburn, Washington; and a sister, Elva Jean Nordby of Alberta Lea, Minnesota.
