Shirley Mulder

Shirley Ann Mulder, age 61, of Huron died at home Friday morning, August 28, 2009, after a courageous battle with ALS.  Her funeral service was at 10 AM Monday, August 31st at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Rhonda Wellsandt-Zell officiating.  Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery. 

Shirley Ann Fedderson was born on April 6, 1948, at Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Kenneth and Clarice (Ellefson) Fedderson.  She grew up at Beresford, and graduated from Beresford High School in 1966.  She then worked as a nurse’s aide for Sioux Valley and McKennan Hospitals in Sioux Falls. 

On April 8, 1972 she married Clarence Mulder at Roseni Lutheran Church of rural Beresford.  Following their marriage they lived in Alcester, Lennox, and Sioux Falls.  In 1977, they moved to Huron where they had lived since.  Shirley worked as a private house cleaner for a number of years and then worked as a housekeeper for the Plains Motel, the Super 8 Motel, and the Crossroads Hotel & Convention Center.

 Shirley’s hobbies included baking, cooking, and collecting cookbooks and exotic teapots.  She enjoyed baking coffee cakes for Christmas gifts as well as entering the baking competition at the South Dakota State Fair, where she won many ribbons for her baking.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and her brother Stanley in infancy.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Clarence; her son, Adam and his wife Jami and their children, Grace and Logan; her daughters, Tara and Tanya Mulder, all of Huron; two brothers, James and his wife Joyce Fedderson of Beresford and David and his wife Donna Fedderson of Beresford; her sister, Sherilyn and her husband Harold “Shorty” Tott of Sioux City, Iowa, several nieces and nephews; and four special friends, Linda Hughes, Jane McLaury, Lachele Wenzel and Paulette Munger.
