Jacobson, age 94, of Huron, died Monday, August 3, 2009, at the SunQuest Healthcare Center.  Her funeral service was at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 6th at the Salem Lutheran Church at Mt. Vernon with Pastor Mindy Ehrke officiating.  Burial was in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Mt. Vernon. Memorials may be directed to the American Lutheran Church, the ELCA Global Missions or Mt. Vernon Cemetery Association.

Ruth Amelia Gjesdal was born July 28, 1915, to Lars and Inga (Hogstad Erickson) Gjesdal at Plankinton, South Dakota.  She grew up in Aurora County and attended country school at Hopper Consolidated.  She was baptized and confirmed at the Salem Lutheran Church at Mt. Vernon.

On August 24, 1932, Ruth married Olaf Jacobson at the Salem Lutheran Church parsonage at Mt. Vernon.  After their marriage, they farmed between Mt. Vernon and Plankinton until 1956, when they moved to Huron.  In 1967, they moved to Mitchell for about ten years, and then back to Huron.

Ruth was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Huron and  ladies circle.  Ruth was also a member of the Sons of Norway.  Some of her interests and hobbies included rosemaling, baking pies and crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Olaf; and five brothers, George, Leonard, Irvin, Marlin and Norman.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Joan and her husband, Arnold Domke of Huron; her son, Dr. Arland and his wife, Willy Jacobson of Moorhead, Minnesota; six grandchildren and their families, Rodney and Cris Domke and their children, Matthew, Alyssa, Mariah and Elora; Scott and Shelli Domke and their children, Ashley, Joshua, Sean and Seth; Paul Domke and his children, Lucas (Courtney), Tyler, Hannah, Samuel and Camelia; Naomi and Jeff Reinhardt and their children, Brandon and Brittany; Erik and Wendy Jacobson and their children, Tyler, Karin and Patrick; and Karin Jacobson; her brother, Lars Gjesdal of Mitchell; and her sister-in-law, Thelma Gjesdal of Mitchell.
