Royce Decker obituary photoRoyce C. Decker, age 72, of Ephrata, Washington, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at Columbia Basin Hospital in Ephrata, Washington. A graveside service was held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 20th at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Donald Crippen officiating. 

Royce C. Decker was born May 5, 1937, in Harveyville, Kansas to John and Helen (Converse) Decker.  He grew up at Springfield, South Dakota and attended Southern State Teachers College at Springfield for two years.  He transferred to South Dakota State College at Brookings, where he graduated with a bachelor of science degree in agricultural engineering.

After serving in the United States Navy for three years, he began his career with the United States Bureau of Reclamation in Huron on January 15, 1964.  He transferred to the Bureau office in Ephrata, Washington, where he met Janeil Hamilton.  They were married there on February 5, 1967.  They would have celebrated 43 years of marriage this February.  Royce also worked for the Bureau of Reclamation at Sacramento, California, Torrington, Wyoming, and Washington D.C.  He retired in June 1985.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Huron where he had been a member of the choir.  He was also a member of the Silvertones choir.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Janeil Decker of Ephrata, Washington; his son, Jon (Grace) Decker of Hayward, California; his granddaughter, Aya Decker of Hayward; his brother-in-law, Mark Hamilton of Ephrata; and two sisters-in-law, Judy (Gary) Lovegren of Oregon and Roberta (Carl) Hastings of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter Denise.
