Robert J. Snyder, age 92, of Huron, died Friday, July 13, 2007 at the Huron Nursing Home. His funeral service was at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 17th, at the Grace Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jeffrey Barnes officiating. Burial was at 3 PM in the WoodlawnCemetery at Sioux Falls. A Masonic service was conducted by the Huron Masonic Lodge #26 at Kuhler Funeral Home. Robert J. Snyder was born on September 1, 1914, at Kadoka, South Dakota to J. Howard and Isabelle (Milliken) Snyder. He graduated from White River High School in 1932. In 1939, he joined the Army National Guard and served in the South Pacific during World War II. After his discharge, he attended Augustana College, graduating in 1950. Robert married Elizabeth Girton on January 20, 1954 at Sioux Falls. He was a counselor for South Dakota Vocational Rehabilitation and taught at Northwest College of Commerce.

He was a member of the Unity Masonic Lodge #130, the El Riad Shrine, and the 147th National Guard Artillery. Robert enjoyed music of all kinds, singing at numerous events and reading books.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; three sisters; and one son, Lee on January 17, 1985.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Bette of Huron; two daughters, Polly Elizabeth Snyder of Helena, Montana and Virginia (David) Newquist of Aberdeen; one son, Jaime (Bonnie) Snyder of Sioux Falls; eight grandchildren, Jocelyn Stulken, Aaron Stulken, Shaun Snyder, Leslie Newquist, David Newquist, Andrian Newquist, Heather Edwards, and Stahcee Nelson; eight great-grandchildren, Vivienne, Amelia, Kayne, Delicia, Bradley, Chase, Tyler, and Katelynn.
