Robert Horton obituary photoRobert “Bob” Horton, age 70, of Huron, died Friday evening, May 23, 2008, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.  His funeral service was 2 PM Tuesday, May 27th at the Kuhler Funeral Home with Rev. William Pfautz, officiating.  Burial was at the Riverside Cemetery with military rites by the Huron Area Veterans Council. 

Robert Horton was born on October 12, 1937, to Guy A. and Marian C. (Hardy) Horton at Baraboo, Wisconsin.

 On April 27, 1958, Robert married Cora Beryl Ringheimer at Huron.  He served in the United States Air Force as a medic from 1958 until 1988 at many locations around the world including Korea, Vietnam, Belgium and Japan and many locations state side.  In 1988, he retired at Offutt Air Force Base at Omaha, Nebraska.

Bob enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, traveling and spending time with his family.  He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Horton; and one brother-in-law, Donald Schinderling.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Beryl of Huron; three children, Barbara and her husband, Richard Zeller of Lake Poinsett, Richard and his wife, Janice of Rapid City, and Pam and her husband, Todd Vaughn of Box Elder; seven grandchildren, Amy (Todd) Bunker, Anna Vaughn, Monty Vaughn, Bobby Zeller, Richard Horton Jr., Troy Horton and Brian Belakjon; four great-grandchildren, Chloe, Mason and Aimslee Bunker and Paxten Belakjon; one brother, Richard Horton of Huron; one sister, Adrianne Schinderling of Rapid City; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
