Randy Peterson

Randy Peterson, age 55, of Huron, died Saturday, November 5, 2011, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls after a long battle with cancer.  His funeral service was at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 9th at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Rev. Terry Anderson officiating. Burial was in the Telemarken Cemetery at Wallace. 

Randy Peterson was born September 21, 1956, to Leon and Adeline (Nelson) Peterson in Huron.  He graduated from Huron High School in 1974.  After graduation, Randy joined the United States Army and served in Germany.

 After his honorable discharge, Randy then attended Lake Area Vo-Tech in Watertown, and graduated as a draftsman. Randy worked for Pope Architect, Timmerman, Dakota Pork, and DM & E Railroad for many years.

On May 22, 1982, Randy married Marcia Thompson at Wallace, South Dakota.

Randy enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, painting and art.  Randy loved spending time with his family and will be remembered for his story telling.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Adeline Bowen; several grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Marcia of Huron; one son, Ryan Peterson of Ft. Collins, Colorado; one daughter, Kaylene Peterson of Sioux Falls; one granddaughter, Ivy Peterson of Ft. Collins, Colorado; his father, Leon (Gayle) Peterson of Redway, California; one grandmother, Grace Hale of Huron; three sisters, Shawn Salmon, Cindy Tompkins, and Lisa Schmit all of Gillette, Wyoming; two brothers, Richard (Annette) Bowen of Huron, and Jesse Peterson of Los Angeles, California; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
