Patricia Hougland obituary photoPatricia Hougland, age 74, of Huron, died Thursday, October 6, 2011, at Huron Regional Medical Center.  Her funeral service was at 10:30 AM, Monday, October 10th, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald Crippen officiating.  Burial was in the Lake Preston Cemetery. Her family prefers memorials.

Patricia Irene Stymiest was born October 27, 1936, to Glenn and Agnes (Gomsrud) Stymiest at Lake Preston. She grew up in rural Lake Preston and graduated from Erwin High School.

On August 12, 1956, Patricia married Dihl Hougland in Lake Preston.

Pat was a member of the Bakers Dozen and the Loyalty Circle group at the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dihl on February 18, 2011; one son, Duane; one great-grandson, Owen Eagle Star; and one sister, Sherry Straatmeyer.

Grateful for having shared her life are her five children, Denise (Dave) St. John of Douglas, Wyoming, Cindy (Scott Badour) Eagle Star of Huron, Shelly (Todd) McAloon of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Wanda (Darwin) Barthelman of Huron, and Dean Hougland of Mitchell; thirteen grandchildren, Angie (Chris) Lusk, Mandy (Jared) Vollman, Nick (Rita) Eagle Star, Chris (Carrie) Eagle Star, Trisha (Mike Chasing Hawk) Eagle Star, Wayne (Hillary) Eagle Star, Crystal (Don) Overbey, Mike (Adri) McAloon, Laura (Dillon) Todd, Tara (Ben Bigalke) Mattke, Dustin Mattke, Morgan Barthelman, and Jesse Hougland; thirteen great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Ellen Hougland of Huron; two brothers, Denton Stymiest of Lead and Darrell Stymiest of Sturgis; and one sister, Glenna Boyd of Oldham.
