Norman E. Hiebert

Norman E. Hiebert, age 80, of Osceola, died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at the Huron Regional Medical Center after a 30 year battle with heart disease.  His funeral service was at 10:30 AM Monday, June 2nd at the Faith Mennonite Church at Iroquois with Pastors Lonnie Penner, Phillip Penner and Raymond Ensz officiating.  Burial was in the Faith Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Norman E. Hiebert was born October 14, 1927, to Henry and Margaret (Ensz) Hiebert at Hillsboro, Kansas.  He grew up in the Hillsboro community and received his education there.

On September 26, 1954, Norman married Lorrene Unruh from Halstead, Kansas. They moved to South Dakota in 1956.  Norman chose farming and ranching as his lifelong occupation, which he thoroughly enjoyed.  He also enjoyed his woodworking hobby.  Norman made many pieces of furniture for his family and others.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Paul, Lloyd and Dale.

He is survived by his wife, Lorrene of Osceola; two sons, Leslie (Kim) and David (Jill) both of Carpenter; three daughters, Jane (Howard) Koehn of Scooba, Mississippi, Gloria (Brad) Unruh of Murray, Kentucky and Darlene (Darwin) Unruh of Carpenter; three brothers, Donald of Yale, James of Hillsboro, Kansas and Van of Louisville, Georgia; seventeen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
