Norman Kolasch obituary photoNorman Kolasch, age 79, of Huron, died Friday, February 2, 2007, at Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was 11:00 AM Monday, February 5th at the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Huron with the Rev. David D. Reichel officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Aberdeen.

Ernest Norman Kolasch was born March 13, 1927, at Trail City, South Dakota to Anton and Annette (Pfeifle) Kolasch. Norman was a self-proclaimed cowboy, growing up farming and ranching. He married Dorothy Kuehl on June 28, 1950, at Bowdle, South Dakota. Norman was a self-employed general contractor specializing in home building; making cabinets, doing other carpentry projects, plumbing, and electrical work. He was also a backhoe operator for twenty years.

Norman was a life member of the National Rifle Association, an avid Republican, and a member of the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing the guitar and harmonica. Norman had a special place in his heart for small dogs.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Enoch “Jim” and Mark; one son, Wayne; one daughter, Jolene; two grand-children, Jerry and Jeni; and one grandson-in-law, Chris Knapp.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Dorothy, of Huron; three sons, Pastors Bruce (Reba) Kolasch, of Baker, Montana, Timothy (Roxie) Kolasch, of Monticello, Wisconsin, and Tony (Anne) Kolasch, of Evansville, Wisconsin; five daughters, Barbara (Rick) Kippley, of Terrel, North Carolina, Nyna (Steven) Heidenreich, of Boise, Idaho, Karen (Dale) Carter, of Huron, Connie Rumer, of Genoa, Illinois, and Tami (Paul) Buechner, of Cross Plains, Wisconsin; four brothers, William Kolasch, of Nampa, Idaho, Al (Lola) Kolasch, of Meridian, Idaho, Lloyd (Helen) Kolasch, of Rapid City, and Alvin (Ann) Kolasch, of Aberdeen; three sisters, Erma Holmes, of Rapid City, Lillian (Mardie) Patten, of Aberdeen, and Virginia Thoemke, of West Fargo, North Dakota; twenty-two grandchildren, Rikki Knapp (Rob Howery), Cory (Sabrina) Kippley, Marcia (Scott) Benton, Cheri (Chris) Gallivan, Ryan Heidenreich, Suzi (Richard) Robbins, Peter Kolasch, Jacob Kolasch, Courtney (James) Ballard, Quinn Kiger, Stephen Kiger, Kenny Carter, Stephen Carter, David (Erin) Rumer, Zachary Buechner, Kyle Buechner, Luke Kolasch, Josh Kolasch, Elizabeth Kolasch, Adam Kolasch, Benjamin Kolasch and Amber Kolasch; nine great-grandchildren, Aly and Nick Patterson, Conner Kippley, Eva Benton,Naomi Gallivan, Christian Robbins, Blake Ballard, Aspen Kiger, and Evan Charles Konkel; and his dog Lexi.
