Noreen Dwyer obituary photoNoreen Dwyer, age 77, of Huron, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at the Golden Living Nursing Home at Milbank.  Her funeral service was at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 28th, at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with Wayne Prien officiating.  Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Noreen Margaret Rasmussen was born January 31, 1934, to Harry A. and Veda (Rooney) Rasmussen, at Lake Benton, Minnesota.  When she was four, the family moved to a farm near Carpenter, South Dakota.  Noreen grew up there and attended Bunker Hill rural school near Carpenter.

In 1950, Noreen married Ted Lane, and they share a daughter, Kathy.  In 1954, Noreen married Willard Fechtelkotter, and they share a son, Kevin.  In 1978, she married Robert J. “Bobby” Dwyer, and welcomed eight step-children into her life.

Noreen worked as a waitress at her parents’ café in Carpenter, then in the food service department at Huron College and Leighton’s Lounge in Huron.  Noreen also owned and operated a concession stand at the South Dakota State Fair for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby; and two brothers, Harry Jr. and Dale Rasmussen.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her daughter, Kathy Lane (Ron) Tempel of Milbank; one son, Kevin (Mary) Fechtelkotter of Rapid City; one sister, Genevieve McMillan of Huron; two brothers, Dean (Judy) Rasmussen of Aberdeen and Danny Stone of Spencer; two sisters-in-law, Rosella Rasmussen of Qulin, Missouri and Rita Rasmussen of Beresford; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
