Muriel Olmstead

Muriel Olmstead, of Huron, died Saturday, November 11, 2006, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was 11 AM Tuesday, November 14 at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Muriel Byerly was born in Sioux City, Iowa, to William and Myrtle (Jones) Byerly. She moved to Huron as a young child and received her education here.

Muriel married James W. Olmstead on November 7, 1946, in Huron. Together they had four children and they lived in Huron all their lives. Muriel's family was very important to her. She was an active supporter of them in all of their many activities, and continued that support with her grandchildren's activities.

She is survived by a son, Jim (Debbie) Olmstead, of Huron; three daughters, Carol Peach, of Huron, Judy Sebring, of Brookings, and Vicky (Roger) Reindl, of Huron; five grandchildren, Scott (Laurie) Sebring, of Brookings, Eric Olmstead of Liberal, Kansas, Julie Sebring of Brookings, Jamie (Darrin) Richardson of Sioux Falls, and Curt (Angie) Reindl, of Brookings; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Sebring and Carter James Richardson; and five sisters, Lois Wheeler of Huron, Marlene Wilson of Huron, Dorothy Miner of Gregory, June (Dick) Hanson of Pomona, CA, and Mickey (Rudy) Craft, of Forest Grove, OR.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers, Don, Victor and Paul.
