Mike Rogers

Mike Rogers, age 58, of Huron, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at his home.  A celebration of his life was held at 3 PM Thursday, August 11th at the Plains Ballroom with Timmy Walker officiating.  Burial was in the Black Hills National Cemetery.  

Michael Ray Rogers was born on April 8, 1953, to Homer and Joyce Rogers in Medford, Wisconsin.  Mike spent most of his childhood in Wessington Springs getting into mischief with his brothers, Homer Jr. and Jess.  He graduated from Wessington Springs High School in 1971. After high school, Mike enlisted in the Navy, receiving several medals while serving three tours in Vietnam.

On October 20, 1989, Mike married Tina Luckett in Huron.  Mike’s love for carpentry and concrete led them to establish Mike Rogers Construction (MRC) in 1990.

Mike believed in surrounding himself with family and friends.  Mike had a passion for music.  He loved singing and playing the guitar.  Mike enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, trips to Wisconsin, and annual family reunions at the Rogers’s Cemetery in Gallatin, Missouri.

He is preceded in death by several grandparents; aunts and uncles; and one niece, Skyla Luckett.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Tina of Huron; five children, Nicole (Joe) Stadlman of Sioux Falls, Brandi (Justin Mcallister) Rogers of Huron, Bryan Small of Huron, Levi (Nicole) Rogers of Huron, and Jessica (Nick) Ferguson of Huron; and several grandchildren, Orion and Ava Stadlman, Alex, Gavin, Lily, and Braydon Wilde, Kylee Small, Landyn, Dawsyn and Hailey Rogers, and Alissa and Foster Ferguson; his parents, Homer and Joyce Rogers of Wessington Springs; one grandmother, Mary Lemaster of Mangum, Oklahoma; two brothers, Homer Rogers Jr. of Spearfish and Jess Rogers of Wessington Springs; two brothers-in-law, Todd (Sandi) Luckett and Terry Luckett all of Huron; father-in-Law, Darrel Luckett of Huron; mother-in-Law, Bonnie (Beul) Walters of Las Vegas; aunts; uncles, numerous cousins; nieces and nephews, Tyler, Heather and Cede Luckett, Josh, Amber and Ashlee Luckett, Charlie Montes, Cody Rogers, Cami, Dreau, and Mindi Rogers, and Curtis and Ruth Bales, numerous  friends; and his bestest buddy, Buddy.
