Mary Ellen Anderson obituary photoMary Ellen Anderson of Huron, age 83, died Friday, February 26, 2010, surrounded by family in Owatonna, Minnesota. Her funeral service was at 11 AM Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at the Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Brian Grover officiating.  Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery.

The daughter of Milton and Letha Kooyman, sister of Milton Kooyman, Jr., wife of Keith B. Anderson, mother of three daughters: Lynn Edney (Doug) of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Lori Drake (Gene) of Owatonna, Minnesota, and Ramy Thoma (Steve) of St. Louis, Missouri, and one son: Michael Griffith (Julie) of Erie, Colorado.  She was also 'Grammy' to nine grandchildren: Jacob Griffith (Kari), Jeremy Griffith (Charlotte), Jennifer Edney, Brian Edney, Nicole Johnson (Derek), Lindsey Bishman (Cole), Stephanie Drake, Stephen Thoma (Michelle), and Philip Thoma, and twelve great-grandchildren: Wade, Skyla, Jesse, Jonathan, Jaime, Nevaeh, Alexander, Ellen, Nora, Drake, Trevor, Devin.

Mary Ellen was a long-time member of the Congregational UCC Church and gave generously of her time and spirit to the Huron community all throughout her life. She served on the Board at the Huron YWCA and the Crisis House, and also found time to remain actively engaged in the Huron Country Club golf league, PEO, local politics, bridge club, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for 56 years. She was also a cherished member of our family, and although we are profoundly happy that she has found peace and graciously left us with so many beautiful memories, we are crushed by her absence and wish for nothing more than one last "kiss on the forehead." We say to her now the words that she always whispered to us when our memorable family visits to her house in Huron had come to an end: “Good-bye, Dear.” Mary Ellen Anderson is remembered by the many friends and family that her life has touched.
