His burial was Saturday, December 2nd, at 1 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Wolsey, followed by a memorial service at 2 PM, Saturday, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Jonathan Boehne officiating

Marcus F. Erion was born April 24, 1919, at Wolsey, South Dakota, to Walter and Laura (Riedel) Erion. He received his education at Wolsey, graduating in 1938, and then attended Huron College. He married Lucile Scheibe on May 4, 1941, at Wolsey. Marcus farmed for many years, and then worked for Armour & Company. In 1966, he began working for the Bureau of Reclamation as a surveyor until his retirement at age 65. His surveying position took him to Great Falls, Montana, Minot and Devils Lake, North Dakota, and Ord, Nebraska.

He married Mabel Dummer on June 2, 1973.

His hobbies included playing softball as a young man. Marcus enjoyed watching Nebraska softball teams, following them throughout the United States. He was also a Big Red Nebraska football fan. He enjoyed playing pinnacle and cribbage.

He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church school board in Wolsey when they had a parochial school. He was active in the churches in the communities he lived in, and was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his two wives, Lucile on July 21, 1972, and Mabel, on September 24, 1992; one son, William, on January 3, 2006; one brother, Gerhardt "Bill"; and one great grandson, Andrew Kalis on December 6, 2001.

He is survived by four daughters, Sharon (Verlyn) Wipf, of Sioux Falls, Shirley (Ed) Kalis, of Mount Pleasant, Michigan, Susan (Don) Kinsley, of Huron, and Sandra (Ken) Matehs, of Upham, North Dakota; eleven grandchildren, Bryan Wipf, Darin Wipf, Edward (Dawn) Kalis, Jason Kalis, Jon (Misty) Kalis, Carmen Kinsley, Chad (Sundy) Kinsley, Wendi (Jon) Gilbert, Cody (Erin) Kinsley, Joseph (Jennifer) Matehs, Joshua (Amanda) Matehs; twelve great-grandchildren; six brothers-in-law; seven sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
