Marilyn Wilcox

Marilyn Wilcox, age 64, of Huron, died Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Huron Regional Medical Center.  Her funeral service was at 10:30 AM Thursday, July 15, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald Crippen officiating.  Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. 

Marilyn K. Fritzsche was born July 18, 1945, in Miller, South Dakota to Edward and Elaine (Ravenscroft) Fritzsche.  She grew up on the family farm and received her education at Whiteside Township School.  She had the distinction of being the last eighth grade student to graduate from Whiteside School before it closed.  Marilyn graduated from Wessington High School in 1963 and attended Northwest College of Commerce in Huron. 

On June 21, 1964, she married Leslie Wilcox in Wessington.  Marilyn began her working career at the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Huron, after which she then worked at Tempo until it burned.  For several years Marilyn worked with special needs students at Huron High School and in 1978 she became employed by K-Mart.  She worked there over 25 years until she retired due to ill health.

Marilyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Red Hat Society, and the Retired K-Mart Employees.  She loved being with her grandchildren, and getting together with her family at various family functions and gatherings.  She enjoyed “coffee” in several different “coffee groups” and attending the concert series with friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her sister, Paula Jo Fritzsche, and her husband.

  Survivors include her three daughters, Tammy (Steve) Sunde of Sioux Falls, Tonya Adermann of Huron and Tyann (Mark) Gildemaster of Pierre; four grandchildren, Evan and Alex Adermann, Austin and Seth Gildemaster;  two brothers, Douglas (Janet) Fritzsche of Miller, Roger (Jane) Fritzsche of Wessington; four sisters, Nadine Schorn of Mitchell, Karen (Bruce) Clarke of Wessington, Sharon (Jeff) Wuestewald of Wolsey and Brenda (Matt) Munson of Eagle Creek, Oregon; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and a host of very special friends.
