Marie Stobbs

Frances Marie Stobbs, age 82, of Huron, died Monday evening, November 20, 2006, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was 10 AM Saturday, November 25th, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. Burial was at the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Frances Marie Castle was born on August 31, 1924, at Huron South Dakota to Floyd and Frances (Loper) Castle. She grew up at Huron and received her education here.

On September 20, 1953, she married John Allen Stobbs at Huron. Following their marriage they lived in Wessington where Marie worked as a cook for the Wessington School.

While they lived in Wessington she was a member of the Wessington Presbyterian Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #119 of Wessington. After she moved to Huron she transferred her membership to the Mizpah Chapter #9 Order of the Eastern Star.

Marie loved to play cards, as well as bingo. She worked at Kathy's Dollar Store for a number of years, and she also worked at the Broadland Creek Golf Course until her health required that she retire in 2005.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, on November 13, 1992; three brothers, Louie, Charles, and Bill; and one sister, Betty.

Survivors include her two children, Craig (Denise) Stobbs, of Ruma, IL, and Peggy (Max) Holloway, of Brush, CO; six grandchildren, Mike, John, Shannon, Tracy, Keesha, and John David.; ten great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert Castle of Huron; her sister, Florence Seigenthaler of Verona, WI; several nieces and nephews, including a "special niece", Donna (Harold) Haigh of Hitchcock; and several great nieces and great nephews.
