Marian Dutcher obituary photoMarian Dutcher, age 90, of Huron, died Monday, March 26, 2007, at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral service was 11:00 AM Friday, March 30, 2007, at the Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Brian Grover officiating. Burial was in the Hetland Cemetery.

Marian C. Wonsbeck was born June 30, 1916, at Arlington, South Dakota to Walter and Catherine (Nelson) Wonsbeck. She attended Hetland and Lake Preston High Schools graduating in 1934. On August 30, 1935, she married Verle Dutcher at Hetland. They made their home at Hetland until 1942, when they moved to Huron.

Marian was a food supervisor at St. John's Hospital for twenty-six years. She also worked at the Huron Nursing Home. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ.

Marian enjoyed meeting with her weekly coffee group for many years. Her yard was always full of flowers and she liked feeding the birds. Marian missed the farm when she moved to Huron, and went to her parent’s farm every chance she had. She was very good about visiting friends at the hospital and nursing homes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Verle, in 1985; two sisters; two brothers; and one son, Wallace, in 1964.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Maurine (Wallace) Hortness, of Sioux Falls; her son, Val (Susan) Dutcher, of Apex, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Larry) Wiedenman, Darci (Greg) Schjodt, Douglas (LaVette) Hortness, Scott Hortness, Eric (Laura) Hortness, Julie (John) Foley, and Pamela (Eric) Sessoms; and three great-grandchildren, Emily and Anna Foley and Jada Hortness.
