Maggie J. Hofer

Maggie J. Hofer, age 94, of Huron, died Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral service was 10 AM Friday, December 22, at the Huron Mission Church with Rev. Dean Lindstad officiating. Burial was in the Ideal Cemetery.

Maggie Hofer was born July 22, 1912, on a farm near Hitchcock, to Joe J.S. and Mary (Pullman) Hofer. She attended LaDelle School and graduated from the eighth grade.

On May 8, 1934, she married Clarence J. Hofer at his parents' home and they made their home with his parents for two years. They lived in Wolsey for five years before moving to the Yale area, where they purchased a farm northeast of Huron. After her husband died in 1973, Maggie remained on the farm for five years before moving to Huron.

She was a member of Bethel Church when they lived on their farm and a member of First Assembly of God Church in Huron. She was very active at the church and had taught Sunday school, children's church, and was a member of the missionary sewing circle. She was a current member of the Huron Church of the Open Bible.

Maggie always had a big garden on the farm, and canned the produce for her family. She also loved to bake. She was also a seamstress and made quilts and dish towels for all her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence, on January 11, 1973; and one son, Gordon, at the age of five.

She is survived by her children, Rev. Glenn (Selby) Hofer, of Wagner, Jerry G. (Marcelle) Hofer, of Huron, Marlette (Dr. Duane) Glanzer, of Mission, and Rev.
