Lula May Pronk

Lula May Pronk, age 86, of Huron, died Saturday, February 5, 2011, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home.   Her funeral service was at 11 AM Wednesday, February 9th at the American Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating.  Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.  The family prefers memorials to the American Lutheran Church. 

Lula May Hilton was born July 7, 1924, at Rapid City, to Orin and Ella (Moore) Hilton.  She moved to Huron as a teenager.  On December 23, 1944, she married Milton M. Pronk at the American Lutheran Church in Huron.  Following their marriage they made their home in Huron.

In addition to being a homemaker, Lula May also worked for Armour and Company for 29 years, retiring in 1986.  She then worked at the Tschetter Hohm Clinic until 2006.  She enjoyed bowling, watching her grandchildren play hockey, decorating cakes and visiting family members.  She was a member of the American Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband on February 21, 1996, and one brother Ross Hilton of Carson City, Nevada.

Survivors include her three children, Dennis Pronk of Dayton, Nevada, Mary Allain and her husband Walter Smith of Downingtown, Pennsylvania and Lynette Klanchnik of Huron; seven grandchildren, Daniel Pronk of Carson City, NV, Heather Davis (Tim) of Sacramento, California, Ramie Smith Thorstad (Kenneth) of Asheville, North Carolina, and Aaron Smith of Reston, Virginia, and Morgan, Corey and Robert Klanchnik of Huron; fifteen great-grandchildren; five half-brothers; five half-sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
