Lois Weikum

Lois M. Weikum, age 86, of Huron, died Saturday, February 3, 2007, at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral service was 2 PM Tuesday, February 6th at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery.

Lois M. Evans was born October 6, 1920, at Bethune, Colorado, to Frank and Mona (Moody) Evans. She moved to Huron with her family in 1924. Lois graduated from Huron High School in 1940.

Lois worked for Hutchinson Laundry and Model Laundry for several years before she married Robert Weikum on December 11, 1948 at Huron.

Lois was a Girl Scout leader for several years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; her daughter, Candace, who died in infancy; and her sister, Jean H. Nickel.

She is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn Lee (Richard) Kahre, of Mina; her grandson, Aaron (Tina) Kahre, of Britton; two great-grandchildren, Noah and McKenzie Kahre; her sister, Florence Hunt of Huron; her brother, Russell (Nikki) Evans, of Huron; and four sisters-in-law, Emma Nemitz of Brookings, Marie Roberts of Medford, Oregon, Elsie Flaherty and Christina Kelch, both of Austin, Minnesota.
