Lois J. Miedema

Lois J. Miedema, age 81, of Huron, died Saturday, February 11, 2007, at the Huron Nursing Home.  Her funeral service was at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 16th at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating.  Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery.

Lois Jane Anderson was born November 16, 1925, at Huron, South Dakota to Oscar and Cathryn (Berens) Anderson.  She attended school in Huron, graduating from Huron High School in 1944.  Lois married Andrew E. Miedema on September 21, 1946, at Trenton, New Jersey.  Later she attendedNorthwest College of Commerce and graduated in 1964.  They farmed seven miles west of Huron where they lived for twenty-seven years.  They moved five miles east of Huron for five years, and then moved to Huron in 1979, retiring from farming in 1990.

Lois was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Randy, Kenneth, and Jeffrey; and three sisters, Lillian Zelmer, Lucille Smith, and LaVerne Smith.

Lois is survived by her husband, Andrew of Huron; one daughter, Cathryn Saylor of Watertown; one son, Dennis Miedema of Huron; five  grandchildren, Beckie Breyer of Reston, Virginia, Joseph (Celeste) Saylor of Onalaska, Wisconsin,   Jacalyn (Steve) Hudlemeyer of Farmington, Minnesota, Jerilyn (Kris) Ulmer of Watertown, Candice Miedema of Aberdeen; three great-grandchildren, Amanda, Jacob, and Jordan; and one sister, Lorraine Munger of Sioux Falls.
