Lois Houge obituary photoLois Houge, age 66, of Huron, died Thursday evening, September 6, 2007, at her home.  Her funeral service was at 10:30 AM Monday, September 10th at the American Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating. Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.    The family prefers that memorials be directed to the American Lutheran Church or the Huron Regional Medical Center Hospice.

Lois Yvonne Floberg was born August 25, 1941, in Hillsboro, North Dakota, to Walter and Alvina (Koval) Floberg.  She grew up in Caledonia, where she played in the band and played basketball in the public school. 

On February 3, 1959, Lois married Robert Houge in Webster, South Dakota.  They lived in Watertown until 1966, when they moved to Huron.  Lois worked at Larry’s Smart Fashions, Sears, and at Huron Regional Medical Center, where she was a medical imaging aide.  In addition to these positions and taking care of her family, she worked as an Avon representative for forty-two years.  She and Bob had spent the last six winters in Arizona. 

Her hobbies included shopping, dancing, camping, tending to her flower gardens and watching auto racing.  She enjoyed traveling, especially a cruise to the Bahamas, and traveling to Mexico and the Cayman Islands, but she particularly enjoyed visiting family. 

She was a member of the American Lutheran Church and the Avon Presidents Club.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Robert, of Huron; her children, Greg (Lorna) Houge of Huron, Jeff (Brenda) Houge of Huron, and Leann (Dr. William) Watson of Cuchara, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Ashley Houge of Sioux Falls, Brandon Houge of Huron, Derek Houge of Huron, Dylan Houge of Huron, Jessica (fiancÚ Keith McReynolds) Watson of Parker, Colorado, Chelsea (Travis) Ruark of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Benjamin Watson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one great-grandson, William McReynolds of Parker, Colorado; two sisters, Kay (Bob) Miller of Mitchell, and Sandy (Daryl) Nohr of Grandin, North Dakota; two brothers, Jerry (Sandy) Floberg of Dilworth, Minnesota and Brad Floberg of Hillsboro, North Dakota; one brother-in-law, Bud (Harleen) Houge of McLeod, North Dakota; one sister-in-law, Bev Huseth of McLeod, North Dakota; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Judith Ann.
