Lois Harder

Lois Harder, age 95, of Huron and formerly of Wolsey, died Thursday, April 19, 2012, at the SunQuest Health Care Center.  Her funeral service was at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 24th at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. L. Scott Spiehs officiating.  Burial was in the Wolsey Cemetery. 

Lois C. Christopherson was born February 20, 1917 to Martin and Charlotte (Langbehn) Christopherson at Wolsey.  She attended country school through the 8th grade and then two years at Wolsey High School.

On July 18, 1936, Lois married Frank F. Harder at Wolsey.  They made their home on a farm in the Wolsey area.  Lois owned a restaurant in Wolsey for three years.  She also cleaned houses for many people.  In 1970, Lois and Frank moved into Wolsey, and in 1998 Lois moved to the Huron Nursing Home.

Lois was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Wolsey Senior Center.  She enjoyed crocheting, reading, working word puzzles and playing cards.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; three sons, Laverne, Frank Jr. and Keith; one daughter, Loretta; one daughter-in-law, Lily Harder; and eleven siblings, Lorine, Tilman, Alvah, Maurice, Lowell, Edna, Cecil, Ross, Arnold, Delbert and Glenace.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her son, Merle (Janet) Harder of Groton; four grandsons, Brian (Michelle) Harder of Mt. Zion Illinois, and Corey (Brenda) Harder, TJ (Marcy) Harder and Adam Harder all of Groton; eight great-grandchildren, Courtney, Malorie, McKayla, Rayce, Maggie, Alexis, Halee and Haden; and one brother, Homer Christopherson of Brookings.
