Lloyd Engebretson obit photoLloyd V. Engebretson, age 102, of Huron, died Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home.  His memorial service was at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 25th at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Huron with Curt Fowler officiating. 

Lloyd V. Engebretson was born on October 3, 1906, to Edward and Anna (Lee) Engebretson at Sherman, South Dakota.  His family lived at Streeter, North Dakota until he was in the eighth grade.  They then moved to Jasper, Minnesota.

In 1928, Lloyd married Elva Bolland at Pipestone, Minnesota.  They moved to Huron in 1939, where he worked at the city heating plant, and also as a finish carpenter for many years.  Elva died in 1975.  June 1972, Lloyd married Louise Volesky at Miller and they made their home in Huron.

Lloyd was associated with the Jehovah’s Witness church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives, Elva and Louise; one daughter, June Lindner; one son, David Engebretson; three brothers, Walt, Lewis and Clarence Engebretson; and two sisters, Minnie and Clara.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his children, Dale (Carol) Engebretson of Huron, Evelyn Barker of Comstock, Nebraska, Carol (Dean) Haugen of Cavour, Lynn Engebretson of Huron, Dennis Engebretson of Comstock, Nebraska, Janet Nelson of Twisp, Washington, Bonnie (Dennis) Dammann of Twisp, Washington, Gary (Kristy) Engebretson of Canby, Oregon, and Cheryl (Guy) Eigenbrode of Marysville, Washington; five step-children, Trudy Armstrong of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ron (Tara) Volesky of Huron, LeRoy (Theora) Volesky of Huron, Kenneth Volesky of Pendleton, Oregon, Kaehl Volesky of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
