Larry Schroeder

Larry Schroeder, age 65, of Huron, died Monday, November 19, 2007, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.  His funeral service was at 10:00AM on Saturday, November 24th at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jonathan Boehne officiating.  Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Larry Eugene Schroeder was born on October 24, 1942, at Huron, to Otto and Helen (Harrell) Schroeder.  He attended the Sand Creek School through the eighth grade and then graduated from Huron High School in 1961.  After high school, Larry served in the South Dakota Army National Guard and worked for Estervick’s Construction.

On June 7, 1964, Larry married Donna Deyo at the St. John’s Lutheran Church at Wolsey.  In 1966, Larry began employment with the city of Huron, and was serving  as the superintendent of the Solid Waste Department at the time of his retirement.  After retirement, Larry enjoyed working at Coborn’s in the produce department until his health declined.

Larry enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing with his family.  He also spent lots of time tinkering in his garage.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Donna of Huron; his son, Neal (Katherine) Schroeder of Great Lakes, Illinois; his two daughters, Jane (Rodney) Schley of Huron and Karen King and her fiance, Alan Sorensen of Moorhead, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Nicholas Schley, Emmelyn King, Elizabeth Schley and Jillaine King; one sister, Brenda Schroeder of Rapid City; a great aunt, Betty French of Wessington; a sister-in-law, Caroline McFarlane of Huron; and a brother-in-law, Eugene (Diane) Deyo of Rapid City.
