Kim Watke

Kim Watke, age 52, of Wolsey, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.  His funeral service was at 10 AM Tuesday, April 20th, at Bethesda Church with the Rev. Phil Plett officiating.  Burial will be at a later date in the Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls. 

Kim Alan Watke was born June 13, 1957, in Sioux Falls.  He graduated from Cherokee High School in Cherokee, Iowa and from Iowa Community College in Sioux City, Iowa.  He served in the United States Marine Corps for four years.

He was married to Carla Erickson on March 4, 1995 at Sioux Falls.  They moved to Wolsey in October 1995.

Kim loved being a truck driver and he drove for a number of companies, including Cenex.  An outdoorsman, he had raised huskies and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Special interests included collecting coins and “hot wheels”.  

Kim was preceded in death by his father, Merle V. Watke and his cousin, Jill Jorgensen.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Carla of Wolsey; three children, Desirée, Leah and Wesley Alan; his mother, Shirley Watke of Omaha, Nebraska; his sister, Sheri (John) Shively of Sioux Falls; two aunts, Eunice Jorgensen of Sioux Falls, and Barbara (Dick) Brewster of Washburn, North Dakota (also his godmother); and three cousins, Julie, Lynne and Mark.  He was an organ donor.
