Joshua Gilchrist obituary photo 2Joshua Gilchrist, age 15, of Huron, died Friday, January 26, 2007, at his home. His memorial service was at 3 PM Thursday, February 1st, at the Huron High School Auditorium with Rev. Dean Lindstad officiating. Private burial was in Altoona Cemetery at Hitchcock. A memorial will be established.

Joshua Thomas Gilchrist was born February 16, 1991, at Huron to Jon and Betty Jo (Kopischke) Gilchrist. He lived his entire life in Huron, receiving his education at Washington Elementary School, Huron Middle School and Huron High School, where he was currently a sophomore. He was an honor student and appeared to have a very promising future. He could really wail on his guitars.

Josh was an accomplished musician and composer, even at his young age, and music was his main love and hobby. He was a member of the Huron High School Band, Orchestra, and Jazz Band as well as the Huron Symphony. He had been in Boy Scouts for several years. He was an active member of the Open Bible Church in Huron and played in the church band for the past few months. He was an avid reader and participated in soccer in his younger years.

Survivors include his father, Jon Gilchrist; his sister Rebekah Gilchrist; his paternal grandparents, Warren and Esther Gilchrist of Hitchcock, his maternal grandparents, Edward and Marlys Kopischke of Madison Lake, MN; his aunts and uncles, Janie (John) Person of Watkins, CO, Barbara (Bill) Christwitz of Clearlake, CA, Tom (Sherry) Gilchrist of Springfield, SD, Becky (Mark) Clasen of Isanti, MN, Blaine (Lorri) Kopischke of Waterville, MN, Bonnie (Rick) Stickley of Morristown, MN, and Bruce (Denise) Kopischke of Madison Lake, MN; many cousins and friends; and Danil Antonov of Nizhniy Tagil, Russia, the exchange student who lived with the Gilchrist family.

Josh was preceded in death by his great-grandparents and his mother, Betty Gilchrist.
