Josephine Luther obit photo rJosephine (Jo) Luther, age 91, of Huron, died September 13, 2009, at Huron Regional Medical Center. Her memorial service was at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 18th at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Jonathan Boehne officiating.  Burial was at 9:30 AM on Friday at the Riverside Cemetery.

Josephine Lucille Foley was born September 4, 1918, to Walter E. and Mabel Angeline (Bullis) Foley at Huron, South Dakota.

She attended Huron schools, and was graduated from Huron High School in 1936.  She married Mal Andersen in 1939, and together they ran the Colonial Bakery.  She later worked at the Huron Daily Plainsman. Her life’s interests included golfing, traveling, playing bridge and watching her great-grandson grow.

Jo married Vinton Luther on May 10, 1969.  After selling the Luther business in 1975, she and Vinton moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas.  From Bella Vista they later moved to Rogers, Arkansas, and then to Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  They returned to Huron in 2000.  She currently resided at Sunquest Village.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Craig Andersen, who died in a plane crash in 1978; and her husband, Vinton on March 5, 2009.

She is survived by a step-daughter, Connie (Richard) Green of Huron; a step-son, John (Kathy Nunokawa) Luther of Martinez, California; two grandchildren, Cara (Keith) Osier of Huron and Dana Green of Brookings; a great-grandson, Davis Osier of Huron; nieces and nephews; and several friends including a very special long-time friend, Phyllis Worrall of Huron.
