John Wintle

John Wintle, age 89, of Huron, died Thursday, July 26, 2007, at his residence in Stoneybrook Suites. His memorial service was at 3 PM Saturday, July 28th at the American Lutheran Church with the Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating. Private burial was held at the Riverside Cemetery. The family prefers that memorials be directed to Beadle County 4-H.

John was born July 13, 1918, at Huron, South Dakota to George and Ada (Green) Wintle. He grew up near Huron, graduated from Huron High School in 1936, and worked for Fairmont Foods and the Chicago Northwestern Railroad.

On February 14, 1945, he married Ione Hedlund at Huron. They farmed southeast of Huron for over fifty years before they retired and moved to Huron. John followed the harvest as a custom combiner for many years and was an active 4-H member and leader.

John was baptized, married, and was a current member of the American Lutheran Church. He had also served as a council member in the Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Iroquois.

John’s parents and his wife, Ione, preceded him in death.

John is survived by his daughter, Regie Rae and her husband, John S. Bradford of Salt Lake City, Utah; his son, Bruce Wintle and his wife, Susan, of Iroquois; and three grandchildren, Raymond Bradford, of Salt Lake City, and Clark and Carrie Wintle, of Iroquois.
